Easy to Use
jDictionary has a nice and intuitive user interface. You will understand the whole concept at once. jDictionary is able to upgrade itself, upgrade its plugins, provide news and information about new plugins. Downloading and installing a new plugin is just one click.
Platform Independent
That means you can run jDictionary on Windows, Linux, Solaris, Mac and so on. All features work in the same way on each platform.
Plugin Based
jDictionary is plugin based and has an easy to use plugin management system which is able to download and install the desired plugins automagically from the web. Installing or upgrading one or more plugins (even simultaneously) is just one click! There are more and more plugins available for jDictionary. It's not necessary for a plugin to be a dictionary related stuff. For example, currently there is a speech synthesizer plugin under development which will be invoked by other plugins to pronounce the desired words.

jDictionary is licensed under the LGPL license, so you can download and use this program for free, and download its source code too.

Atlantida is an open source (GPL) multilingual dictionary written in Java. It can translate words from one language to another and pronounce them. As of version alpha 0.15, Atlantida uses XDXF dictionary format.

WikSpeak is a tool that
allows
non-native English speakers to analyze the correlation between the
pronunciation and spelling of English words. This program is a simple
and fast graphic interface which can retrieve the phonetic
transcription ( IPA ) and the pronunciation of any English word, while
avoiding the annoying process of browsing dictionaries. The
most
outstanding features of WikSpeak are the savings
in time to determine the pronunciation of English words and the ease in
understanding phonetic transcription.
WikSpeak is a highly recommended tool for anyone from the beginner to
the advanced non-native English speaker.

Ergane is a multilingual translation dictionary for Windows that uses the artificial language Esperanto to translate words and short expressions from one natural language to another. Ergane is a product of Majstro Aplikaĵoj.
Ergane's user interface and manual are available in three languages: English, Esperanto and Dutch. The user interface alone is also available in Spanish.

Podo is a multiplatform dictionary shell, it includes the dictionary core and GUI. Currently supported platforms are Linux and MS Windows. Our future plan is to add support for the PDA.
Podo provides a flexible dictionary format. As a result, a translation article can include not only text but also different media information (e.g. images, audio, etc.) Dictionaries' format is based on the Unicode, which enables to support many languages. An example with Korean is provided on the website. Podo is a free software developed under the GPL licence.
