A Note is a program that lets you create post-it like notes on your Microsoft Windows desktop.
The program sits in the system tray and with either one click or a double click a new note appears and you can write the message directly.
The best part though...it's completely free!

Docvert [ Download Page ] [ Home Page ]
Docvert takes word processor files (typically .doc) and converts them to OpenDocument and clean HTML.
The resulting OpenDocument is then optionally converted to HTML or any XML. This is done with XML Pipelines, an approach that supports XSLT, breaking up content over headings or sections, and saving those results to multiple files (e.g., chapter1.html, chapter2.html…).
The result is returned in a .zip file.
Docvert has a user-friendly interface, and it's easy to integrate with other software as it uses a simple REST-style interface. It's released under the GPL v3 so although it's open source there's no legal problems developing proprietary software ontop of it. The XML produced is easier to understand and more structured than the OOXML or .DOC formats.
Docvert builds upon the work of several word processors such as OpenOffice.org, Abiword, and soon KOffice. Docvert is very grateful to benefit from their years of reverse engineering work. OpenDocument (also known as ODF) is an international ISO standard, ISO/IEC 26300. Docvert benefits greatly from having this standard.

FreeBar is an Open-Source Shortcut Bar with the Style of the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar.
Why FreeBar?
Since Office 2003 the Office Shortcut Bar is missing in Microsoft's Office suite. Microsoft recommends the Quick Launch toolbar of Windows as a replacement. But this alternative did not convince me and many others.
If you have many icons in the Quick Launch toolbar next to the Start button, the space for running programs quickly becomes tight. A Windows toolbar at the top of the screen takes screen space permanently.
Because of these reasons, I developed FreeBar.
What can FreeBar do?
FreeBar behaves like the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar. It docks on top of the screen and from here you can start your programs easily.

QJot is a small USB portable alternative rich text editor that reads and writes .doc files, inserts images and more. It is basically meant to serve as a good WordPad replacement. It supports Unicode and runs under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Its native format is RTF, but it can open, edit and save Word and WordPerfect files (though not with all of their features). It can be used with any script that is supported by Windows and for which a font and a keyboard driver are installed, including right-to-left scripts. QJot is fully portable and can be run from a USB flash drive.
